SweepBar Privacy Policy
SweepBar runs on your Mac. It does not collect your personal data, has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. This page explains what it does on your Mac and the few times it talks to the internet.
What SweepBar does on your Mac
To find files that are safe to delete, SweepBar:
- reads how much free space your disk has;
- reads the sizes and modification dates of files in the cache folders it knows about (for example Xcode build caches, npm and pnpm caches, browser test downloads), and in folders you choose for the "forgotten projects" search;
- checks the names of running apps and command line tools, so it does not delete something that is in use;
- asks your developer tools where their caches live, by running your login shell (for example
npm config get cache), and asksgitwhether a folder is ignored in the projects you chose.
All of this stays on your Mac. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.
SweepBar deletes files only after you confirm. Deleted files do not go to the Trash, so deletion is permanent. Your source code, documents, photos and chat histories are never in its list.
What SweepBar stores on your Mac
- Your settings: the free-space limit, the project folders you chose, and whether you finished the welcome screens.
- Your license key and the details of your activation, in your Keychain, after you activate it.
When SweepBar uses the internet
- Buying. Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. It collects your payment details, name, email address, country and tax information, and gives us your email address and order number so a license key can be issued to you. SeeLemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
- Your license. When you activate a key, SweepBar sends it to Lemon Squeezy together with a label for your Mac made of its model name and a random code, never the name of your computer. SweepBar checks the license again about once a week. If you are refunded, the key stops working.
- Updates. SweepBar checks for new versions by downloading a small update file from our server. Like any web request, this shows your IP address to the server, along with the SweepBar and macOS version. We do not collect a hardware or system profile, and we do not link the request to you.
SweepBar sends no crash reports and no usage data.
Notifications
The "your Mac is getting full" notices are created on your Mac. Nothing about them leaves it.

It uses no cookies, does not follow you across other websites and does not build profiles of visitors. If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
